Sport

At Toothill Primary School all children participate in sport within the context of the National Curriculum for Physical Education in which children have opportunities to develop skills in games, gymnastics, athletics and dance. All children undertake a basic “learn to swim” programme during Year 3.

All children have opportunities to join after school sports clubs and through these compete against other schools. These include athletics, football, gymnastics and netball. All sports clubs are open to boys and girls and focus mainly on junior aged children. Although children are always encouraged to do their best to win the main emphasis is on participating in a sporting manner.

The school takes part in the West Swindon Football and Netball League, the West Swindon Area Athletics Tournament as well as various indoor tournaments at the Link Centre. In football and netball keen children who attend clubs regularly but may not have the ability to represent the school in competitive matches are given the opportunity to represent the school in friendly matches.
