GREEN ZONE

We are working hard as a school to gain our Silver Eco Award!  We are very nearly there! Just a few targets to achieve.  We would like your help in gaining our silver award.  All we ask is for you to help reduce the amount of waste that children have in their lunch boxes.  We are trying to encourage the children to recycle and we now have 4 recycling bins in the hall at lunchtimes.  These include:

When you are making your child’s lunch could you please talk to them about what can be placed in which bin, to help us ensure we can recycle all that is in the bins after lunch! It is not a nice job to sieve through the rubbish!!

We have also been very successful in growing our own fruit and vegetables.  Mrs Allan has been working with a number of children to develop our garden area and it looks and tastes amazing!

It is also nice to see that many children are now bringing a reusable bottle to school that is filled with water that they may drink throughout the day!  It is important that the children keep with fluids up to help with their concentration during lessons.

We are now working on a new action plan that has been decided by the eco team.  Please see the school website for some of the things we are trying to do this term as well as what is mentioned above to improve our school environment.

There are two blog areas open on the POD currently where the children can write their comments about how we are getting on as a school.  They are able to currently comment about reusing their bottles and how good we are getting at turning off lights when we don’t need them on! We would be very grateful if you could encourage your child to add their comments to the POD to enable us to achieve another Gold Medal.  All they need to do is go onto: http://www.jointhepod.org/ and register as a student.  They will then be asked for a password and they will need to type in: BTMOYU, the more  comments we have the better level of medal we will receive, so get blogging!!
